The Forestry Training Institute is a tertiary Institution with the mandate to train middle level technicians in sustainable forest management and Biodiversity Conservation. It was established in 1976 by the Mano River Union (MRU). The institute is located in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, Liberia.

At FTI, the following concentrations in its two-year General Forestry diploma are offered:
*Conservation Forestry *Community Forestry *Commercial Forestry

A one-year program in Geo-informatics is also offered with the following concentrations:
*Cartography and Land Surveying *Land Administration and Governance *Forest Monitoring /Land Use-Land Cover Analysis and Restoration *Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management *Urban and Rural Development Planning

The Institute provides other services in addition to producing annual classes of forestry support staff. These include venue rental (use of various buildings and forest sites at FTI for forestry and other events), plant seedling provision and habitat restoration support (through various Nursery programs), Ecotourism development and training, and venue rental (buildings and forest sites at FTI for assorted events).

The first graduating class of the Forestry Training Institute dates back to the 1970s, and many of its alumni have influenced forestry in Liberia in the decades since.
